Description

Bogotá is located in the center of Colombia, in the natural region known as Bogota's Savannah, which is part of the Cundiboyacense plateau in the Eastern Cordillera of the Andes. It is the third highest capital in South America (after La Paz and Quito) to an average of 2,625 meters above sea level.  Bogotá is the largest city and the capital of Colombia: here you can find the convergence point of people from all over the country. This multicultural and heterogeneous city sees the coexistence of modern buildings with others that evoke its colonial past. Bogotá is a green city thanks to its parks and oriental hills dominating the Sanctuaries of Monserrate and Guadalupe; its color is also the one of the bricks with which many buildings are built, real colonial treasures. Few cities have such a rich landscape; your gaze is lost in a green sea, that of the Andes Cordillera. In Bogota, apart from enjoying the green spaces and the open air, the travelers find an ideal place to go for business, to discover the history, to have fun. And let's not forget that this city offers a great local gastronomy, culture and much more...

If you visit Bogota you can not exclude from your tour Zipaquirà with its famous work of engineering architecture and religious art: the "Salt Cathedral". This circuit will take you right here and continue to Chiquinquirà, the Capital of the West Province.

Duration: 9 hours

Program

If you come to visit Bogota you can not forget to visit Zipaquirà and its architectural wonders; it is located 50 km north of the city and  you can reachit by crossing the so-called "Sabana de Bogotà". Built in a salt mine at 180 meters deep, the Cathedral of Salt of Zapiquirà is one of the marvels of Colombia: a great work of engineering and religious art. After Zapiquirà the tour continues in the capital of the West Province: Chiquinquirà. Etymologically its name comes from "Chobcha Xequenquirà" which means "priestly country". It is called "Marian City of Colombia": here you can find the Queen of Colombia whose image is iside the "Basilica Mayor" located in the "Plaza de la Libertad". It is located 70 km from Tunja at an altitude of 2,580 meters above sea level and its average temperature is 15 degrees.
